So what current trends will be relevant to your business? Although this question is impossible to answer for each individual company, there are a few trends you should pay attention to, regardless of your sector. These are things that will help you engage with your audience – essentially digital marketing strategies that target demographics have responded to. Podcasts are on vogue too – they’ve been on the rise for several years. Overall, it’s sensible to think about whether your audience is currently interacting with your content in their desired format. If your target demographic is younger, unless you’re making videos and podcasts already, the answer is probably no.

One of the most effective ways to get your brand out there is to use influencers. The number of influencers using social media platforms to promote services and products is rapidly growing, and more and more businesses are taking advantage of this. While Instagram remains the most prominent channel for influencer marketing, platforms like TikTok are also becoming increasingly popular.

And if you’re concerned that using an influencer will get expensive, remember that there are options for smaller businesses. While you don’t want to use an influencer who doesn’t have a clear record of success, if they’re interested in your product, free samples may be another way of paying your influencers. If you’re still not convinced, bear in mind that studies have shown that influencer marketing can be highly successful. One study, undertaken by the Influencer Marketing Hub, showed that in 2020, around 90% of businesses found this method of marketing to be incredibly effective.

 

4. Is Your Brand Green?

In the immortal words of Kermit the Frog, it’s not easy being green. Of course, we’re not referring to the colour in this instance. One of the current trends is being as sustainable as possible, and going green. There is a new rise of eco-warriors – hardly surprising, considering the state of the planet at the moment. 

So what does this mean for businesses? You want to be able to offer at least one element of sustainability along the customer journey, whether it’s the product itself or the packaging it comes in. Using recycled materials could make all the difference when it comes to attracting a younger audience. And if you’re not quite ready to make the change yet, you could consider aligning your business with an eco charity, so that you’re at least taking steps in the right direction.
